HELP! C-class Mercedes alternator/battery light wont go away!!?
i have a c-class 2005 and the red light came on and said alternator/battery, my husband changed the alternator but the light doesn't go off!!! does anyone know how to do this?!HELP! C-class Mercedes alternator/battery light wont go away!!?have the same problem with my 1994 MB. I had to replace my alternator and they still came on... I replaced the battery and they still come on. new belts still come on. at first it burned the main relay on the battery. I took it to an automotive electrician and they said they couldn't figure it out. Have you installed anything new and electrical? mine started after I put fog lights on my car. those two lights are only on when the alternator isn't charging properly so it sounds as though your alternator is going out, which is $100-$300 to replace don't go through a mechanic if all possible because they will charge you immensely to install it. its typically 2 or 3 bolts and shimmy it to loosen the belt off.HELP! C-class Mercedes alternator/battery light wont go away!!?i have an 05 c320.. i would take it to an auto electrician if i were you. this seems abnormal
What is an outer tie-rod? How urgent is fixing it if it's loose?
I went to Firestone to get an alignment done because my 94 ford escort pulls really hard to the right. They said that my left front outer tie-rod was loose and that that was the problem and doing an alignment wouldn't help. They said they would have to replace it, why does it need replaced if it is just loose? Can they not be tightened back up? Going to cost $130. If I wait until I'm better off money-wise is it going to worsen the problem? I have a friend whose uncle is a mechanic who has changed my alternator and done tune ups for me before, do you think this is something that can be done without one of the machine that lifts your cars? Any and all suggestions and info appreciated thanks. What is an outer tie-rod? How urgent is fixing it if it's loose?HI
A tie rod is what steers the tires. If it lose he didn't mean that the nut is lose (as the nut has a carter pin through it ) he means that its shot and wore out.
As for urgent .... if it breaks you won't be going anywhere and it may cause you to crash if your driving it.. as when it brakes that one tire will turn all the way out or in and you won't have any control over the car.
good luck
timWhat is an outer tie-rod? How urgent is fixing it if it's loose?this is something that can be aken care of without lifting the vehicle. the tie rods are very important. they are what in a sense %26quot; tie your hub assembly into your vehicle.%26quot; in the unfortunate case that it was to brea it would kick your %26quot;tire%26quot; in a direction that you really dont want it to go. if your going to replace it you need to treat it like a headlight or brake pads or wheel bearings and just do them al at the same time. keeps it simple. if your friends uncle is a mechanic he should be able to do this for you pretty easily. if he is willing. there are some little quirks however about tie rods that can really stress you out. you need to look up your vehicles specs on the computer and find out what you need. or give your local dealership a call, have the last eight digits of your vin number handy. they will need it. have them tell you the parts involved in your tie rods. then just call your local auto parts store with the information and you will more than likely save more.... HOWEVER!!!! you need to know that tie rods dont just go out. did you hit someting hard? a curb or something? that would do it. anyhow. if you have been driving around like this for a while it may not hurt to continue untill you can get the money saved. but you definitely want to put this in the top of your list to get done. it could be a dangeerous thing if they brokeWhat is an outer tie-rod? How urgent is fixing it if it's loose? The tie-rod END is probably what he %26quot;said%26quot; or %26quot;meant%26quot;. That's a very easy replacement. If that price is all inclusive; alignment, tie-rod end, and labor, go for it. If not, get your friend's uncle to do it, if he can. Then go get your alignment.

How do i remove rear brake drum?
Im a novice at mechanics.I can do small repairs like front brakes, alternator change, water pumps, things like that.I have never changed rear brakes. How do I remove the hub on the rear?is it suppose to just pull off or what.If so it must be really stuck.please help if you can.Its a 95 buick skylark! How do i remove rear brake drum?some brake drums will come off easily by just wiggling it and some of them you have to loosen the adjuster or tapping it with a hammer at the sides.good luckHow do i remove rear brake drum?porkchop its pretty easy on that car model. make sure you dont have the emergency brake pulled 1st, there is a possability you might need to back the brake pads off iff they are too deep in the drum likely not. using a block of wood and a hammer wrap the side of the drum in aprx 3 spots. the wood is to shield the impact to the drum. the drum will likely pop free and be easily slid off. a shot of wd40 around the round center will help a lot. be carefull and wear a dust mask when you do this as brake dust will fly around.

How I can find the difference between a 1999 Ford Escort zx2 1.9L and 1.8L Engine?
I am trying to change my alternator and I can't seem to find anywhere on the engine where it says 1.9L or 1.8L, it makes a difference in how I'm suppose to go about fixing the alternator. How I can find the difference between a 1999 Ford Escort zx2 1.9L and 1.8L Engine?I don't think a 1999 ZX2 came with either engine. The 1.9L engine is a Ford engine that was used in Escorts model years up 1996. The 1.8L engine is actually a Mazda engine used only in the Escort GTs of that era. If it's a 1999 ZX2, it should be equipped with a 2.0L Zetec VCT engine. I wouldn't recommend attempting to change the alternator on that particular car yourself, unless you are fairly skilled, as it is very difficult to access on that particular model. Hope this helps.

How to change a 1996 Audi A4 alternator?
I don't really know that much about cars but my car died the other day and I think something is wrong with either the battery or the alternator. How do I remove the alternator correctly? And about how much would a new one cost? And do I have to buy an alternator for an Audi or can it just be any kind?
One more thing... is an alternator easy to install? Like can I do it myself or should I take it to a shop and have mechanic do it?How to change a 1996 Audi A4 alternator?I would strongly advise you take it to a professional. There is VERY little you can do on these cars yourself. Sorry, but if you attempt to fiddle with it, you will probably create more problems than you fix, and your repair bill will go up accordingly.
You will probably be looking at a bill of around $700-$800, if the alt is the problem.
Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing any work on the electrical system. Remove the serp belt with a long 0 offset wrench. Then lift the car safely on a hoist, remove the belly pan, wires and air duct. Remove the 2 bolts attaching the generator the bracket, and pull it out from the bottom.
You should use only a Bosch alternator, which will probably run you $400-$600. Call Carquest to find one.
BTW, what leads you to believe that alternator is bad?thin hair copier request for information
