2001 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 5.4L V8 124K miles
I changed out my Alternator the other day and now my truck stumbles a bit right around 1200-2000 RPM. Past that every so often once I am at cruising speed on the highway and can feel her jerk a bit...kind of like a hiccup and then it's fine for a while and than another hiccup.Also my RPMs jump a little during idle. Any Ideas of what this might be and how to correct the issue?2001 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 Alternator Question?Fords are very fickle about wiring layouts and connectors. It is imperative that you have the wiring laid out exactly as it was from the factory...including the connections...they must fit factory tight. If all that is in order...it might just be going thru a relearning process which could take up to 50 miles. Fords are the worst vehicles around when it comes to any electrical problems. My Car Belt Keeps Squealing??
T make a long story short I have a 1988 mercury grand marquis colony park wagon. It onl has 50,000 original miles. Not a bad car, but ever since we changed the alternator, the belt began squeaking badly. Then we realized that the belts were bad, and we replaced the belts.
Soon, it started squealing again as the new belt got broken in and loser. We kept tightening up the alternator, because it was coming from that belt {and that was really the only thing we could tighten up}, but now the alternator is tightened all the way and it keeps squealing. It only happens when it is cold and you have too many things on, like the radio and the headlights on at the same time, with the heat.
The car is power everything, and I don't think its the alternator {Its a regular 65 amp alt. not a high charging one.}. I bought some belt conditioner, but I have to spray it on every day for it to stop squealing.

does an alternator have a rectifier in it? how can i change its output voltage into a pure sine @ 60hrz? i am working on a project and would like to have my alternator give me a constant ac voltage of 14 with a 60 hrz frequency. at speeds between 2000 to 5000 rpms. also @ 14volts does the current produced from the alternator solely depend on the load?

To get 60 Hz, you will have to spin the alternator at exactly the correct speed. What that is I don't know, it will vary from model to model. Plus remove the diodes. But you will have 3 phases power, which you will have to convert to single phase, a difficult project. But perhaps you can find a single phase alternator??

The best thing to do would be to buy a basic 12V to 110V AC inverter. The 110V AC outputs are not a perfect sine wave, but it is close enough. Feed the 110V into a simple 8:1 transformer and then you will have ~14V AC @ 60hz. When you go to buy your transformer, a 110V - 12V would probably be good enough although it isn't quite 8:1.

How much does it cost to replace an Alternator?
I drive an '87 Thunderbird and recently, in this change to cold weather, it's been extremely difficult to get it to start. However, the battery is less than 3 weeks old. Could the alternator be the issue? 99 Jeep XJ, my drive belt squeals something awful when my AC runs, I recently changed my alternator and in the process discovered how to adjust the drive belt... so I tightened it to where I thought it would stop squealing when AC is on, it is worse....
